This month marks the first anniversary of the CCLab at RWTH Aachen University – a year filled with exciting milestones in our mission to advance climate-responsive, energy-conscious, and socially just public spaces, with a strong focus on university campuses as living labs for transformation.

Over the past year, we have:

• Explored how participatory tools – digital and analog – can drive change in shared outdoor spaces
• Co-developed visions for climate adaptation and energy transition in public space, with and for communities
• Launched collaborations with city partners, schools, and international researchers across Europe and South Africa
• Brought students into real-world learning settings through urban design studios and transdisciplinary projects on campus and beyond
• Advocated for the campus as a site of experimentation, inclusion, and climate action.
