Universities as Social Infrastructure for Net Zero: Dr. Ceren Sezer participated at the JUST Workshop

The Community Collaboration Laboratory is pleased to share that Dr. Ceren Sezer, Group Lead of CCLab, was invited by Prof. Stefan Bouzarowski to speak at the Centre for Joined-Up Sustainability Transformations (JUST) Workshop at the University of Manchester on 21 November 2025.
Dr. Sezer contributed to the workshop with a talk on Universities as Social Infrastructure for Net Zero Transitions, presenting CCLab’s research on how university campuses can function as social infrastructure that supports climate resilience, inclusivity, and more just sustainability transitions.
The workshop brought together an excellent group of researchers and practitioners. Contributions included insights from Doris de Bruijn (SlimRenoveren, NL) on the Neighbourhood Energy Compass, and a conceptual paper on social infrastructure and the climate crisis presented by Harry Queally (JUST Centre), co-authored with Stefan Bouzarowski and Claire Hoolohan.
Discussions throughout the day centred on key questions such as how power operates through social infrastructure, how social infrastructure can be understood as politically transformative, and what forms of social infrastructure remain invisible in Net Zero policy and practice.
CCLab warmly thanks the JUST team for the invitation, the stimulating discussions, and the generous hospitality. The Lab looks forward to continuing this dialogue and exploring future avenues for collaboration.
